In my sermon last Sunday I preached about Elijah despairing in the wilderness and praying that God would take away his life (1 Kings 19:4-8.) My focus was on what we learn about faith and resilience from the story of Elijah. The sermon is available on our live stream page and starts at minute 21:00. The audio is available on our sermon podcast page.
In the sermon I quoted Olympic mountain biker and Marin local Kate Courtney who wrote a powerful reflection in the Washington Post titled “What it feels like to lose at the Olympics. And how to pick yourself up again.” You can read it here.
I highly recommend it. It reads like a well-crafted sermon, especially reading it from a faith perspective. It also offers a helpful perspective for approaching the resurgent pandemic.
