All of us are spending more time on laptops, phones, and tablets for school, work, and staying connected. Technology is a gift, but sometimes we need a break.
On Sunday, September 20, St. John’s invites you to disconnect for a time from all your technology: phone, email, social media, laptops, tablets, television. Perhaps you can take only an hour or so in the morning for worship and reflection; perhaps you might commit to unplugging for a half day, or even the whole day.
Set aside this time to connect with God in prayer, in nature, in the faces of the people around you.
Screen Free Sunday Worship Packs, which include all the items below plus some fun extras, will be available for contact-free pickup from outside the church office Monday, September 14 – Friday, September 18.
You are invited (and yes, we are aware of the irony) to email us the day after, on Monday the 21st, to share any reflections you might have on your experience. We can also discuss at coffee hour on Sunday, September 27.
In order to support making Screen Free Sunday a real day of rest and reflection, we will not be live streaming services or hosting zoom Sunday School or Bible Study. If you can’t live without a more formal worship experience, you are welcome to listen to a past sermon from our website or join us for coffee hour here, though coffee hour will not be hosted by clergy or staff.
