YOUTH GROUPS
Our Junior and Senior High Youth Groups meet every Sunday according to the following schedule:

Sunday 10am:
A gathering of all youth grades 7 through 12 to spend time in discussion and reflection on the issues we face as individuals and as a community. Sometimes we also join the congregation in worship.

JUNIOR HIGH JOURNEY meets every Sunday from 5:30pm to 7pm, including dinner from 6:30 to 7pm. Kids and mentors play games, talk about their lives, and support each other in hands-on prayer and worship activities.

SENIOR HIGH YOOTH GROOP
meets every Sunday from 6:30pm to 8pm, including dinner from 6:30 to 7pm. Youth and mentors play games, talk about their lives, share worship experiences and support one another in common prayer.

ANNUAL SERVICE AND LEARNING TRIP
Each Summer the youth of St. John's take a trip dedicated to learning, service, and experiencing God in a new context. The week-long trip is filled with experiences that call on the group to stretch, grow, learn and serve. The youth travel with non-parent adult chaperones, and engage in volunteering in a host community as well as a program of personal, communal and spiritual reflection based on their experiences.

We are so excited about our summer 2012 trips. High School Yooth Groop will be partnering with Youthworks to do urban service work in Vancouver, Canada from June 16-22. You can learn more about the Vancouver trip at www.youthworks.com Our Jr. High Mission Trip will be partnering with Sierra Service Project learn and serve with the Chukansi Tribe in Coursegold, CA from July 15-20th. To learn more about the Coursegold trip visit www.sierraserviceproject.org.

These trips fill up fast. In order to reserve a place with one of these amazing experiences we recommend registering by January 10th by making a deposit of $100.

Participation in the mission trip is dependent upon participation in youth group over the course of the year preceding the mission trip. This participation would include fundraising efforts and Mission Trip meetings for both parents and youth to help us prepare for the trips.

Youth Mission trips are a powerful tradition at St. John’s In 2009 we traveled to New Orleans and helped repair houses damaged by Hurricane Katrina. In 2010, we traveled to South Dakota, where the Senior High spent a week volunteering on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, and the Junior High spent a week working with social service agencies in Rapid City. And in 2011, both groups served urban communities in Kansas City.

Youth Ministry Blog

Throughout the year our youth groups share in many special events and experiences including everything from movie nights and retreats, to service projects and mission trips. We want to share these incredible experiences with you, even if you are not physically present. To follow our mission trips and other activities, you can check out Katie’s youth ministry blog here.

Help out with the Yooth!

Our Youth Ministry is a community affair. We are especially eager to welcome and involve members of the community whose own youth have grown, or who do not have children in the youth group. Check it out:

1. SIGN UP TO FEED OUR YOUTH
Do you miss the opportunity to cook for a house full of voracious teens? Do you want to practice so that when your own children become voracious teens you will know how to feed them? If you answered yes to either of the above questions then St. John's has the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for people who are not currently parents of teens to help provide dinners for the Yooth Groop. If you would like to do this, even for only one Sunday you can sign up by contacting Katie Trinter at youth@stjohnsross.org.

2. BE A MENTOR!
Young people need adults in their lives who are not their parents! By the same token, adult lives are enriched when they include relationships to young people. To find out more, contact Katie (youth@stjohnsross.org) or Fr. Steve (steve@stjohnsross.org).

Confirmation Spring 2012

This February 12th, high school youth in tenth grade and above are invited to begin the journey of Confirmation. During this four-month faith formation program, each youth will be partnered with an adult mentor of their choosing to share weekly conversation and monthly group experiences. Confirmation at St. John's is an incredible opportunity for youth to journey with adults in exploring and deepening our Christian faith together.

To sign-up and learn more about Confirmation, please contact:
