Sunday School

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14

Sunday School is offered during the 10 a.m. service. Children and youth join their parents in the sanctuary for Communion and to sing hymns at the close of the service.

PreK-4th grade

This age group uses the Godly Play program. Godly Play is a curriculum based on the premise that children want to know God rather than know about God. Our role as adults is to give them the religious language to express what they already know about God.

Grades 5-6

For 5th and 6th graders, we offer during Sunday school: 1) prayer/Bible study using methods such as lectio divina, which is a guided meditation, and 2) opportunities to participate in outreach projects. We’ve cooked for a homeless shelter, sent get well cards to people on our prayer list, and created ads for blood drives or beach cleanups. We encourage these preteens to take a more visible role in the parish and in the community with these kinds of service projects.

Grades 7-8

Seventh and 8th graders meet each Sunday at 10 a.m. The curriculum is influenced by Rite 13, which is the first part of a youth ministry program called Journey to Adulthood (J2A). J2A’s core message is that manhood and womanhood are free gifts from God, and that adulthood must be earned. To underscore this message, the program includes Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries, and other activities.

Seventh and 8th graders can also participate in a youth group called Eagles. It meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 7 - 8:30 p.m. See Youth Groups for more details.

High School

Please see Youth Groups for information on the program for high school teens.
