New Vestry Members, Winter 2008:

Mary Beth Baker - I was quite honored to receive the "call" to serve on the Vestry. When my husband, our one year old son and I moved to Marin five years ago, it was very important that we find a church and community that we could both embrace and feel welcome. As soon as I met Jan West, I knew we had landed in the right plac.e Over the last few years, I have been heavily involved in the evolution of the Family Service, and look forward to continuing to build a place where all generations can worship together.
Dave and I are now blessed with two children, Liam (6) and Alanna (4) and a one year old puppy! We spend lots of time as a family playing games and enjoying the beauty of the Marin outdoors - biking, hiking, beaching, playing tag, you name it. Professionally, I am a management consultant specializing in strategic planning for higher education and non-profit institutions.

I look forward to serving on the Vestry and learning how I can better serve God and support you and the entire St. John's community.

LInda Gridley - My husband, Chris, and I have been members of St. John's for 10 years. I remember being asked at orientation what brought us to St. John's. My ansswer was that while raised an Episcopalian, my family only attended church on Christmas nad Easter. I wanted to know what happens during the rest of the year. Bart laughed and welcomed us with his warm smile and every year since, St. John's has grown more and more special to us as we have ventured out into the rest of the church calendar year! I look forward to serving on the Vestry and feel certain it will be a great experience.

David M. Gilmour - David Gilmour serves as President of the Marin Leadership Foundation and as a Trustee for GAIA. He participated in the Phase II Building Campaign Committee and formerly was Co-Chair of Stewardship and a Parish Council Member at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena. David is the owner of Paradise Foods in Corte Madera. He and his wife Nancy live in Ross and have five adult children and six grandchildren.

Jib Martens - I am honored to serve on our Vestry. A passion I bring to my term is to further strengthen our sense of Christian community and of helping and loving others. Over the last several years, I have been working as a member of our Outreach Team to bring us together as a community to do hands on work for others. As we call it - "Sharing the Love." Our new building provides us with a wonderful physical foundation on which to continue to build our community and share the love amongst ourselves and others.
My family starting coming to St. John's 9 years ago when we met Bart and we learned of our terrific Sunday School program. Myu wife is Muriel and we have twins, Will and Chase, age 10. I spend most of my time doing family activities, sailing and mountain biking or running to stay in shape. Professionally, I provide risk advisory and reinsurance services to the health care industry.
I look forward to serving on our Vestry and eagerly welcome any input on how we can better serve God and each other. Share the Love.

Liz Welsh - Liz and her family have been members of St. John's for four years. In that time, LIz has volunteered for many St. John's events including chairing the Harvest Moon Auction. Liz and her husband Bill moved from New York where Liz worked at an investment bank for 11 years. Since moving to Marin six years ago, Liz has focused her abundant energy in Fundraising for her children's school and the Ross Community. She is thrilled and honored to serve on the Vestry.
