Emergency Winter Shelter ProgramAs a host of the Marin Winter Emergency Shelter Program, St. John's is honored to provide safety, a warm meal and a sense of community for 20 to 30 men every Tuesday night from December 1st to March 30th. Volunteer Duties:Team Captain –The Team Captain is responsible for purchasing the food on the shopping list communicating with his/her team, and overall guest experience and execution. The Team Captain may provide the food as a donation, share the cost with his/her team, or request funds for reimbursement. Plates, cups, serving utensils and utensils are provided by the church. Cooking Team (3-4 people) – The Cooking Team is responsible for cooking the food on the menu at St. John's and delivering it to First Presbyterian of San Anselmo ready to be re-heated by 5PM on Tuesday. (Time commitment: 3-5pm) Serving Team (3-4 people) – The Serving Team is responsible for re-warming the food, setting up the serving table, and serving the meal. (Time commitment: 5-8pm ) Greeting and Support Team (4-6 people) – Greeting and Support Team - This team is responsible for setting up chairs and tables, greeting the guests, sharing a meal, communing and clean-up . (Time commitment: 5-10pm) Next Morning Supervisor (1-2 people) - These ambitious souls are responsible for assisting the guests to depart the hall and get on the bus to St. Vincent's. There will be minor clean up duties in the morning to rearrange the hall into its original state.
